Double-refreshing coconut jelly (k'lapa jelly) @ Tmn Sri Andalas, Klang

If your friend approach you and say, hey I have tried coconut jelly.
Your immediate reaction would probably be as good as mine, shrugging your shoulder and calmly say, 'What's the big deal? Just a normal 'kelapa muda' what.'

Hey, not so fast! Wait until you try this one!
You probably had another cold reaction and answer in an unmotivated manner (in Malay, selamba saja), 'Yeah, let's just try loh..' and probably mumblingly away while following obediently to try the jelly.

When you see the coconut jelly....Your remark would be...'You see, just like any other coconut right?'

Wait a minute......Don't judge a book by its cover...:)

Yes, outwardly it looks like any other virgin coconut (kelapa muda). But, this is .....

Hold on, hold on (hold your breath).........ta ta.... (see below)

Woah, what is that?

This is so different from normal kelapa muda.

Take a closer look.........it looks like... JELLY!

Yah, this is K'lapa Jelly!

When you put the jelly into your tongue, you will be overpowered. Yeah, this is so good!
And pulling a clenched-fist to your abdomen, just like you have just accomplished something great.
A different feeling, a great feeling!

Now, you see what I mean!

CUT! CUT!! CUT!!!
[Director shouting with a loudspeaker.]

Oops.....take a break, take kit-kat.

The k'lapa jelly carries the tagline 'sekali rasa, mahu lagi' (once tasted, you will crave for more). The tagline aptly describe the experience that you are going to encounter with this wonder-nut k'lapa jelly.

Indeed, once you tried it, you will want more. The only problem is how much your stomach can take.

What make it what I described as wonder-nut k'lapa jelly?

No. 1 - Fresh : This is number one secret of any food preparation. Fresh ingredient makes a great food. But, you still need good 'kang hu' (culinary skills) to perfect the dish. But, with this wonder-nut, freshness is one and the only one condition to make it a great drink!

No. 2 - Double-refreshing : The jelly itself gives you unparalleled fresh feeling and the real virgin coconut water (many virgin coconuts sold are not that 'virgin', or plainly speak, old coconut with virgin coconut outfit :P) gives you another real refreshing punch. What a double-refreshing drink!

No. 3 - Triple textured drink : Soft and smooth virgin coconut flesh, softly harden coconut jelly and the liquid virgin coconut combination make the k'lapa jelly a must-go-for drink.

'Sliding' Pan Mee @ Equine Park, Seri Kembangan

Last Saturday, our whole family went to Equine Park to try out the Pan Mee at Aunty Yong Pan Mee House at Equine Park (beside Jusco Equine Park). I ordered the soupy pan mee. It came with fish paste, some vege and fried anchovies (ikan bilis).

The texture of the pan mee is definitely very good. It is thin, smooth and soft. When you put the mee on your tongue, you can feel that the mee slides on your tongue. Definitely an interesting experience. Normally, when you eat pan mee, you will feel the coarseness and the 'wheatiness' of the mee. But, for this pan mee, you do not have that sort of feeling. You can compare taking this pan mee to taking the koay teow mee (made from rice flour) or 'kuay chap' (made from rice flour as well) (one of Kuching's must-go-for food). To achieve this kind of texture with wheat flour is definitely impressive.

The texture and the taste of the fish paste is just nice. However, I still miss the natural 'fishy' taste. Well, definitely cannot complain for taking fish-based food in a place that does not produce fish by itself.

The soup taste is ok as well. The one good thing about the soup is that it has less salt and does not have artificial taste added.

This 'sliding' pan mee is definitely worth a try!

Delicious layered 'mantou' from Sitiawan

Delicious layered 'mantou' from Sitiawan. It is like normal bun but it has peanut or red/black bean paste sandwiched in between. It the past, it used to be either peanut or red bean but now the bun maker has innovated to the extend that there is a layer of red/black bean paste sandwich in between the layers of peanut paste. You will not be satisfied with just one piece. Usually sold in a pack of 7 pieces.
